BIOGRAPHY

My name is Martin Henrik Gustafsson and I'm from the southern woods of Sweden. I was born on the 9th of March in 1978. Named after Martin Chivers, a football-player for Tottenham Hotspur. Born with a banana-foot and one leg shorter than the other, I had to go through lots of surgeries at an early age. Therefore I ended up spending a lot of time in hospitals. I still can't stand them.

Growing up my father used to take me and my brother to football-practice in the small community Solberga in Småland. In the car he used to play us cassettes with Rod Stewart, Cornelis Vreeswijk, Dire Straits, Bruce Springsteen and Elvis Presley among others. Everytime I listen to those records I can still sense the smell of fresh grass and sunshine.

The first two records I bought was "Creatures of the night" and "(Music from) The Elder" by Kiss. Later on I got my first pair of drumsticks from a heavy metal neighbour and started to play in my room on a chair with a weaved seat in red. He (the neighbour) introduced me to bands like WASP, Twisted Sister and Mötley Crue. While I sat there playing on my chair, I made up records in my head, came up with bandnames and made drawings of what the bandmembers might look like. For some reason they often wore big beards.

At age 12 I broke my right leg during football practice (Thanks, Kenneth!). That plaster cast summer I picked up my grandmother's guitar and got hooked. I decided to put my football career on the shelf and instead focus my energy on writing songs.

In the year of 2002 I started writing songs using the moniker Boy Omega.

I'm a night owl. I find it harder to be creative during daytime. I like pelts of rain smattering against plastic surfaces. I like the smell of newly cut wood. My favorite time of year is autumn, or fall. When it's not too hot and not too cold. I take interest in science and the unknown. The paranormal parts of life. I also like animals, movies, books, bathtubs, balconies, forests, castles, swimming in lakes and oceans, riding my bicycle, computers, photo albums, crossword puzzles, drawing, painting, dada, rollercoasters, power ballads, trees, tetris, random acts of kindness and so on.

From time to time Boy Omega turns into an orchestra.
